About Us

An overriding objective of our group is to elucidate how the molecular- or cellular-scale dynamics relates to the macroscopic mechanical properties and physiological functions, and use this knowledge to gain a deeper understanding of mechanics of homeostasis and various diseases. We focus on biological flow spanned from molecular-scale dynamics to organ-scale fluid behaviors. Such fluid flows potentially phenomena in our body complex, thus we also seek to develop computational methodology to understand the mechanics of those complex fluids. Both experimental and computational approaches are employed in a manner that encourages the constant interplay between the two for purposes of model validation, direct measurement of critical parameters, and identifying new hypothesis. Through these attempts, we seek not only to clarify the mechanics of life but also to develop new medical tools/prediction methodology/clinical classification/ for various diseases.
